Practice Area

The Carradale surgery is a Dispensing Practice operated by a single handed doctor. The main surgery is in Carradale, 15 miles north of Campbeltown. The practice extends from Ballochgair in the south, along the East Coast of the Kintyre Peninsula, to Skipness in the north, including Claonaig Estate and many other small communities. The doctor consults at Skipness Village Hall every Wednesday.

The practice list is about 600, but because of dispensing, geographical spread and a significant number of holiday visitors, the workload is much busier than this number suggests.  More than half the practice is aged over 60.

As well as hospital beds there are Consultant Outpatient Clinics available at Campbeltown Hospital. Plain X-ray, Physiotherapy, and Day Hospital facilities are also readily available at the same location. Patients may also be referred to Glasgow and Oban for Hospital Care and Outpatient Appointments. A comprehensive Ambulance Service is operated throughout the area with emergency ambulances having a Paramedic onboard. A helicopter augments the Air Ambulance Service.

New Patient Registration

register_now

If you live within our practice area you are welcome to register with us and our reception staff will be happy to guide you through the procedure.

You will need to complete a GP Registration Form and New Patient Questionnaire which will provide useful information whilst we wait for your medical records to arrive from your previous doctor. Once completed, please email the forms to carradale.surgey@nhs.scot

All new patients are advised to attend for a health check with a member of the healthcare team to ensure that any required tests are up to date and that we have an accurate note of any repeat medication you may be taking.  This is an important part of your registration with the Practice.

Patients have a right to express a preference to receive services from a particular performer or class of performer, either generally or in relation to any particular condition.  Any such expressions of preference made in writing to the Practice Manager will be given consideration within the limitations of a single-handed practice.

Medical treatment is available from the date of registration. Please contact reception for further information.
